Housing and Residence Life Student Staff Application 2018-2019

Resident Assistants (RAs) and First Year Advisors (FRADs) must reside in an on-campus room designated by Housing and Residence Life.

All Housing student staff must actively participate in online professional development activities over the summer. In addition, all Housing student staff must attend mandatory staff meetings and in-services held weekly on Tuesdays from 5:30p-7:00p.

RAs and FRADs are expected to return to campus early for training and hall preparations, as well as, stay late to close the buildings for breaks. Term of employment is August 16, 2018-May 12, 2019.

New Staff Welcome: April 8, 2018 from 3:00p-5:00p.
Mandatory Fall training: August 16, 2018-August 24, 2018.
Mandatory Winter training: January 2, 2019-January 4, 2019.

A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required to be eligible for an RA position. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 is required to be eligible for a FRAD position. Candidates must have a positive financial, academic and student conduct status with Housing and Residence Life and Furman University.

Note to applicants: Because residential communities benefit from having a continuous and consistent staff presence, Housing & Residence Life prefers to hire student staff for the full year. However, applicants who are participating in a study away or student exchange are invited to apply for one semester of service as an RA or FRAD.

Applicants should be prepared to present documentation of this placement if hired. Please note that hiring decisions will be made based on departmental needs and are not guaranteed. If hired, you must complete online training requirements and attend on-campus training in August regardless of when you are studying away.
